Hygiene / Health and Safety

  • I only use good quality professional face paints that are EU or FDA approved/compliant, and poly glitters that are safe for cosmetic use on the face.  The paints are water based, have anti-bacterial and hypo-allergenic properties and are specifically for use on the face. If you are in any doubt about any allergic reaction, I can offer a patch test on the inside of the arm or behind the ear first.

  • I cannot paint anyone who appears to have a skin complaint – active eczema, cold sores, chickenpox, conjunctivitis, open cuts etc.  In some cases I will offer to paint an arm or hand as an alternative.

  • Water is changed regularly throughout the painting session, and a clean sponge used for every person.

  • Brushes are thoroughly cleaned after every session, and sponges are washed in a washing machine at 60 degrees using non-biological washing powder.

  • As a general rule, face painting is more fun for children over the age of 3 years as by this age they are able to sit reasonably still and articulate their own requests. I will not paint any children under the age of 2 years.  Children between 2 and 3 years may have an arm or hand design as an alternative to face painting.

  • I request that children presented for painting have clean faces!

  • Face paint can be removed with warm water and mild soap, (and an old flannel).  Removal with baby wipes is NOT recommended.

  • If a child is visibly uncomfortable or distressed having their face painted or wants me to stop for any reason, I will of course do so.

  • Finally, I have Public Liability Insurance up to £3,000,000 and I am CRB checked for your peace of mind.
